Neftali Soto went 3-4 with a walk, run and an RBI. He was the Reds 3rd round pick out of the Puerto Rican Baseball Acadamy. He is 18 years old and is 14 for 26 on the season while puting up a line of .538/.535/.731 so far.

It was good to see Mesoraco actually caught today too. 1-5 with a run scored.

    Soto is on fire though.

I remember reading that Soto was the best hitting prospect to come out of PR this year. Small sample size, but I'll stick my neck out and say that whoever wrote that was correct.

So... I'm interested in what you more knowledgeable kids think of this guy. Is he all that? Do we have a ringer on our hands?

That's 2-2 now that he's been roughed up since the promotion, no? Whoever said that level of competition was overrated was wrong.

That's an absurd line Soto is putting up.

Brandon Waring hit his first homer today, Billings was up 3-0, but Great Falls got 2 in the 4th, 3-2 Billings, mid 4th.

Dayton's game is currently suspended in the 2nd inning. Dragons leading 2-1, Eddy Rodriguez has gone deep. Phipps has the other hit. Guerrero gave up a solo homer in 2 innings, 1 walk, no K's.

Stubbs is not in the lineup. Interesting.

Mesoraco went 1-5 with a single, GIDP and had a passed ball.

Yeah, he's been roughed up both starts. His line looks like this:

    9.2 IP, 11 H, 9 ER, 5 BB, 6 K

The most alarming thing is his K/BB ratio. In Dayton he struck out 85 while only walking 13. Obviously, that has changed in Sarasota.

I'm not overly concerned though, it's only two starts.

Brandon Waring is 3-for-3 with two singles and a HR and 4 RBI.

    Dayton was suspended.

Did Billings boxscore stop updating, or is that just me?

You are totally correct...it is only 2 starts. But look at some of the comments back when Watson was the next Homer. Whenever someone said he was playing in Low A, it was shot down like some ridiculous notion.

Watson is where he should minimally be. And we'll see what happens. Hopefully this is only an adjustment period.

I've wondered for a while how many strikeouts he got in Low-A ball due simply to the fact that nobody down there has probably ever seen a Knuckle Curve before.

I'm not going to panic yet, though.
