live by the bomb, die by the bomb

Just a brief look at what NL teams have done in 2007 with regards to HRs. I figured the Reds' offense was HR-dependent; but not to this extent. The Reds have scored the second most runs on HRs in the NL - trailing only the Brewers. Home runs account for a whopping 47.3% of the offense for Cincinnati.

    Code:

TEAM	HR	HRA	RS-HR	RA-HR	LOD
    SDP	72	39	112	55	57
    MIL	107	73	169	117	52
    CIN	110	73	167	122	45
    ATL	80	74	126	104	22
    FLA	85	71	134	114	20
    SFG	61	57	102	90	12
    LAD	54	53	77	74	3
    ARI	77	77	116	121	-5
    PHI	87	94	136	150	-14
    CHC	71	84	113	128	-15
    HOU	71	96	121	136	-15
    NYM	72	75	109	125	-16
    COL	62	72	101	118	-17
    STL	63	70	100	121	-21
    PIT	56	77	80	122	-42
    WSN	46	85	86	140	-54

    TEAM	RS	%RS/HR	RA	%RA/HR	LOD%
    CIN	353	47.3%	401	30.4%	16.9%
    SDP	334	33.5%	257	21.4%	12.1%
    MIL	375	45.1%	336	34.8%	10.3%
    ATL	335	37.6%	355	29.3%	8.3%
    FLA	370	36.2%	394	28.9%	7.3%
    SFG	317	32.2%	319	28.2%	4.0%
    HOU	338	35.8%	386	35.2%	0.6%
    STL	316	31.6%	389	31.1%	0.5%
    LAD	340	22.6%	312	23.7%	-1.1%
    ARI	335	34.6%	335	36.1%	-1.5%
    COL	355	28.5%	374	31.6%	-3.1%
    PHI	393	34.6%	393	38.2%	-3.6%
    PIT	306	26.1%	375	32.5%	-6.4%
    WSN	294	29.3%	383	36.6%	-7.3%
    CHC	348	32.5%	319	40.1%	-7.6%
    NYM	344	31.7%	305	41.0%	-9.3%
It is interesting to note that even though San Diego hits a less-than-average number of home runs, they still enjoy the largest live-or-die (LOD) edge because they give up a ridiculously small amount themselves.
The Reds have hit the most HRs, but are still looking for their first grand slam. At the same time the Nationals have hit the fewest HRs, but have hit four (tied for most in the NL) with the bases juiced.

the Reds problem is a low OBP and atrocious pitching.
