Friday June 29th minor league updates

GCL Reds won 5-4. Devin Mesoraco went 0-for-3 with a walk. Nefi Soto was 2-for-4 with his 6th double and single and 3 RBI. He finally struckout (twice) for the first time in his pro career (34 atbats).

Hanigan in the lineup for Louisville, batting 7th. Dickerson moves up the 6th, and Richie Gardner makes his 2nd start after his promotion.

Like to see how his high contact rate translates to higher levels. That K-rate is unreal!

Hopefully he'll even be able to up those BB.

    Here's some speculation...

Think that the FO is rushing him a bit to replace Castro? That's essentially his mold.

His lack of walks don't concern me at this point. Considering the fact he is batting an even .500 and he has only struckout twice, it tells me when he gets a pitch to hit, he swings and hits it. If he was striking out some and not batting .500, I'd be more concerned. When his average starts to come down, I'll start to pay more attention to his walks.

Exactly. If you are hitting .500 through 30 at bats, they are throwing the ball over the plate and you are hitting it. Simple as that.

Richie Gardner threw a 1-2-3 first inning with a strikeout and two groundouts.

Oh I'm far from concerned right now. I'm just not expecting him to hit .500 all year. I want to see what happens when the hits aren't falling.

Nonetheless, another fun follow here in Soto.

    Gardner: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
    Hanigan: 0-1
    Lopez: 1-1

Pedro Lopez has hit pretty well since coming over from Charlotte. In 70 ABs in June, he has a .300 batting average.
