    Hello Reds fans!

Looking forward to some intelligent, yet feisty discussion down the stretch regarding the Reds and my team, the Cardinals.

Sheesh, I've been posting over on the RedsLive part of the site, and didn't even realize this was here- how rude of me!

    1. born and bred a Reds fan. My earliest memories as a kid were going to Crosley with my dad, coming in through the left field gate to the brightest, most wonderful shade of green I had ever seen. We'd sit down by the third base walkway, where the players would come out onto the field, and try to get autographs. My dad pointed out Wille Mays to me once, and told me to pay attention to him, he was the best player in baseball. Apparently, Dad was not as impressed as I was with Alex Johnson.

    2. I came across Redzone as a part of checking daily Reds blogs of other folks opinion on the Reds, and was amazed to find that there were other people who actually shared my angst and agony on a daily basis. I had come to hide my Reds habit over the years, as the past 15 or so years have not been kind to us Reds fans. I had been reduced to changing the Reds game on the channel when my wife and kids entered the room, because of the shame, like I was watching a porno or something. This support group has given me the courage to walk openly, in the daylight, and not be afraid to show some, any public interest at all in the Redlegs.

    3. I'm 45. I was 9 years old in 1970, and from then until the age of 19 just kind of assumed that every city had an awesome baseball team. I realize now, in my maturity, that I will never see those likes again, sadly.

4, 5. I am from the west side of the tracks, and definitely drink too much beer, although I can no longer find Hudy or Burger anywhere. I firmly believe that ballpark food should be limited to pop, beer, peanuts, hot dogs, popcorn (but only in the carton that you can use as a megaphone), ice cream, and hamburgers. No fish tacos. Cotton candy is ok for kids.

    7. Never been a communist, but ironically, am red through and through. With a littel bit of orange in the fall and winter.

11.Testicles? Sorry, but I'm all out. Gave one back in 1975 to get the first WS win in my lifetime, gave the 2nd in 1990 because I thought I'd never see another here in Cincinnati after the BRM days.

I currently have 2 kidneys left, however. Am willing to donate for Fall Classic wins.

    12. Dunner? Love him. Hate him. But love him more than I hate him. We have an agreement: he can continue to strike out 190 times a year, as long as he continues to get on base 40% of the time. We've reached a happy medium with that compromise, and are very happy together.

15 "Edmonds" are on sale during the Cardinals series for $1, as I hear it.

Happy to be here, among kindred souls

Yo! So I've been registered here once before but had my account deleted for inactivity - I'll make sure that doesn't happen this time around. Yeah, I've been a Reds fan all my life and fortunately can remember being so excited at the ripe age of 6 that my team had just won the World Series. Geez, at 6, you begin to think it happens every year. Oh, how wrong I was! Anyways, I live in Sarasota where no, unfortunately I don't support the farm as much as I should. For some sick reason, I'd rather drive up the road and watch my adopted American League team. Thank God I shouldn't have to worry about the Reds and the Rays meeting up in the WS one day.

Anyhoo, I love reading here... but I'm gonna try to post a bit more often. This stretch run should be pretty exciting! GO REDS!

    Here is my salvation experience:

Grew up in the South and was a huge Braves fan.(Living in horrible sin)

Moved to Ohio during my growing up years and had to put up with all these annoying Reds fans who lived in the past and worshipped Pete Rose. That just turned me off. Plus the mascot -- Reds? -- what kind of mascot is that i thought.(Living in rebellion to the light)

Went to college back down South and delivered Pizza's every night. The only baseball station i could get was 700wlw; I discovered this station in 1999. When the Reds won 10 in a row and swept the Diamondbacks in Arizona I was converted to the Reds.(Hallelujah)

Marty and Joe were the main reasons for my salvation. I have never regretted my decision and now I hate the Braves.

    I believe.

    Re: Introductions Thread

Hello fellow Reds fans! Look forward to talking baseball with all of you.

And man I hope we stay in this race and get in the playoffs. Would make my year.

I'm 30, married, no kids... and have been a DIEHARD Reds fan for as long as I can remember. I grew up watching them on TV in Dayton and loved Johnny Bench because of the TV show Baseball Bunch, even though he was at the end of his career and wasn't good anymore. First Reds game was 1983 against the Braves at Riverfront. Dale Murphy was the star of the league, but Gary Redus (who led the Reds with 17 HRs in '83) beat Murphy in a pre-game home run derby. I kid you not! The Braves won the game thanks in part to a HR from Glen Hubbard, a little 2B with very little power. I will never forget that. My Dad and I sat in Yellow seats.

I don't make it down to very many games anymore (only 2 this year) but I watch every game on TV and listen to the radio when they are not on TV. Completely obsessed.

    Hey Folks! my introduction

Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself......

My name is Scott, 37, from Middletown and I am a lifelong Reds fan. IT seems odd but I havent bothered looking for a Reds MB before now because have been busy helping out at our Bengals message board for the past 3 years. We do have a MLB section there so thats where I have spent my time discussing our Reds. Not too much action there seeing as our members there are only concerned about Bengals football and thats fine.......I just need some more baseball interaction with people So I googled (excusing myself after the fact) and found this site. I'm THRILLED to have found it and kind of mad that I havent made the effort before now.

Our Bengals MB is also vbulletin so I am very familiar with how this works. I do have one question however........how do i get a sig on here since the IMG code is turned off? If you could help me with that, I sure would appreciate it.

Anyways....I look forward to talking Reds baseball with all of you and hope we can bounce back tonight after that tragic loss last evening.

also....if you are a Bengals fan, I invite you over to our MB. www.cincybengals.com

    Great to be here,
    Scott Palmer

Go to the toolbar at the top. Click on User CP. When on teh new page look in the upper left hand corner for Edit Signature. You should be good to go.

    Welcome aboard.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...
