Medlock fires a scoreless inning of relief with no hits, a walk, and two strikeouts. Medlock has pitched well since his promotion to Louisville:

    4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K

Re: Tuesday July 3rd minor league updates

    Sarasota Reds won 6-3.

    Sean Watson: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K
    Pedro Viola: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Pedro Viola is a guy to keep an eye on. He's a 6'1" lefty from the Dominican Republic who has did nothing but dominate hitters the last two seasons. In 2006, he posted a 2.04 ERA in 61.2 innings with 20 walks and 77 strikeouts (11.32 K/9). This year he began the season in Dayton and threw 43.1 innings of 1.87 ERA ball, with only 29 hits allowed and a 17 bb/49 K ratio. A couple weeks ago he was promoted to Sarasota and he has picked right back up where he left off in Dayton. After tonight, his updated stats in Sarasota look like this: 8.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 12 K.

I've always wondered why people don't talk more about Viola. Is he pretty old for his level or something?

Bruce's AA run has been more impressive than his high A run so far.
