    Actually, it was the fourth consecutive game in which Joe led off and Pete hit second. I can only guess that Sparky wanted to infuse some more speed at the top of the order--Joe had 32 stolen bases, while Pete only had three.

    Tracy had a pretty good year in 1987, hitting .290/.333/.437/.770 with 10 HR's, 44 RBI's, and 31 SB's in 359 AB's as the Reds' 4th OF. He only walked 23 times, but the '87 Reds were a swingin' bunch. Only three players--Eric Davis (84), Buddy Bell (71), and Kal Daniels (60)--had more than 45 BB's.
