Castro likely out for the season

From this BP post along with a tidbit about Josh Hamilton:

They will also be without utility infielder Juan Castro for the rest of the season after he tore a ligament in his elbow. I could not confirm that it was his UCL, but if so, he's likely headed for Tommy John surgery.

Sad to hear he's having surgery but I'm glad he won't be playing any more this season

Either way I think he has a good career ahead of him in coaching.

I too am sad to hear about Juan Castro's season ending injury. The Reds just don't have the depth in personel to justify having a one-dimensional player like Castro on this team.

As with Eric Milton, it's better to part ways with Juan Castro and wish him well!

    Vin Scully said it best
"Now here comes Juan Castro, he is a delightful fellow but he doesn't hit much better than me or you"

Vin Scully also said that Castro had never been hit by a pitch in the majors

Jeff Keppinger will get the opportunity to show what he can do the rest of this year. With luck, he will take Castro's spot on the roster next year. I am sorry Castro got hurt, though.

Yeah, hate to see him get hurt but hey, in one week we got rid of Narron, Moeller and Castro.

yeah i never root for a guy to get injured, but i'd say Juan Castro had himself a pretty decent career considering he could never hit. He must have the dirt on a lot of people. Does this also signify the end of George Grande and his excellent spanish?

I was out of town and out of touch for a week - was Moeller DFA'ed?

Yes, along with Santos and Stone. They all accepted AAA assignments.

I am more sorry that he was a VIABLE pinch-hitter off our bench, according to Narron, than I am that it has to Resort to this to get him off the Active Roster.

8th inning defensive replacement? Yes - but not at $1M per. And not with the lack of other MUCH BETTER quality depth on our bench.

Pinch-hitter for Josh Hamilont? Gimme a Break!! Narron should never manage a MLB team for the rest of his life because of this move.

    PEACE

    -BLEEDS
