Trying to pull this deal off as I type...

    I trade:

    Brian Roberts
    JJ Hardy
    Bobby Abreu
    Francisco Cordero

    I receive:

    Chase Utley
    Brad Hawpe

This is a 10 team 3 player keeper league. I'm currently in 2nd place.

My 3 keepers would then be ARod, Reyes, Utley. I'm probably giving a little much for this year but my future will be as bright as Jay Bruce's.

    Thoughts?

Not a bad deal, but if you're in 2nd, will it hurt your chance at winning the title. If so, I wouldn't do it.

That's a pretty good offer. No one in my league would accept it because it would involve trading Utley (), but I'd say that's pretty fair, based on what I know.

Here are my reasons for doing this deal:

    1. Hardy never plays on my team, he is behind Reyes.

    2. Cordero is expendable because he is at peak value and I have a 23 save lead over the team that is 2nd in saves and I'll still have FRod, Accardo, and soon Al Reyes.

    3. Roberts hurts my steals, but I have a 20 steal lead of 2nd place and Reyes will get another 30-40 in the 2nd half.

    4. I have finally given up on Abreu. I drafted him high in quite a few leagues and he has let me down big time. Even giving him up my OF will be Bonds, V. Wells, Markakis, and Hawpe.

    5. I get Utley, Reyes, and ARod for as long as I want them for the future.

This will be my post trade team:

    C - Estrada
    1B - Kent
    2B - Utley
    SS - Reyes
    3B - ARod
    OF - Bonds
    OF - V. Wells
    OF - Markakis
    UTIL - Thome
    BN - Hawpe
    BN - A. Gonzalez

    SP - Zambrano
    SP - Sheets
    SP - Shields
    SP - R. Hill
    SP - Gorzelanny
    RP - F. Rodriguez
    RP - Accardo
    RP - A. Reyes
    RP - Marmol
    RP - Rauch

Holds are a stat. Plus I get to pick 2 more players up off waivers since I'm trading 4 for 2.

Looks pretty good long term. In Utley and Reyes you lock up arguably the 2 best players at the 2 premium positions for fantasy talent.

Then it's a good deal. Go for it.

I do that deal yesterday. We also have a three-keeper league, so I understand why you're doing this completely. Hardy and Cordero are both going to regress and Roberts is mediocre at best. The only real value I see you giving up is Abreu, and he's on the downside of his career.

If you look at the trade like this:

    Roberts, Hardy, Abreu, and Cordero

    for

    Utley and Hawpe

. . . then you might be giving up more than you're receiving. However, when you factor in the two guys you'll pick up on waivers (I don't know who they are, but I trust your judgment), you're getting a great deal. With it being a keeper league, I think you have to do it if possible.

Just to inform everyone, this trade has been confirmed. I am quite pleased with how I did.

Now to figure out who I'm going to pick up. I'll let you know when I decide who that will be.

I picked up Brad Lidge and Chad Billingsley after this trade went through.

    Utley, Hawpe, Billingsley, and Lidge

    for

    Abreu, Cordero, Hardy, Roberts

    I am quite happy.

I also just turned Brad Hawpe into Paul Konerko.

My offense should now be set for the remainder of the season unless something happens injury wise or an offer I can't refuse.

I'm going to try to turn a closer + Kent or Adrian Gonzalez (if he heats back up at all) into a starter.

A F-ING rookie blowhard pitcher costs me 4-6 weeks by hitting Utley in the hand.

    Damn.

Grab Tadahito Iguchi while he's still a free agent.
