Mike Henry of the Cambridge-based Intercounty Terriers has signed a contract with the major-league Cincinnati Reds. The 17-year-old, right-hander from Sombra, Ont., near Windsor, has had his pitches clocked as high as the low 90s m.p.h.

He will attend an instructional league in Florida in September.

Henry is one of two Terriers selected in the June draft. Outfielder Terrell Alliman of Waterloo has not yet come to terms with the California Angels.

In other developments, four players from the Terriers were named to Ontario's provincial team. Jeff Hunt of Cambridge, pitcher Brad Furdal of Ancaster, third baseman Brent Mitchell of Paris, Ont., and left-handed pitcher Nathan Linesman, a Guelph minor baseball product, were selected to compete at the Canadian under-17 tourney in Quebec City next month.

The high-school aged Terriers are an elite baseball team competing in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario.
