I'm sure many of us grew up thinking that the Reds were larger-than-life figures. They were men who were playing the same game that we played in the backyard or the Little League field, but they played it better, and in front of more people, than we could possibly imagine. Then one day we noticed that they weren't that much different from us--they even had a player who was younger than us! (This was the first sign that I was getting older! )
Who was that player in your case? The first Reds player who was younger than me was Willie Greene.
(I don't feel too old yet--at least the Reds still have five players who are older than me: Jeff Conine, Mike Stanton, David Weathers, Ken Griffey Jr., and Scott Hatteberg.)
