yeah, it appears Brandon's dry spell was shortlived. He's hit .410 with a .923 slg % over his last 10 games.

Brandon had his second 2-hr game-in-a-row. That's 5 in his last 3 games and gives him 16 on the year.

    Brandon's current line: .302/.362/.587/.949 with 16 HRs, 17 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 49 RBIs, 54 runs, 20 BBs, and 75 Ks (ouch).

Seems he's getting his professional career off to a terrific start.

Brandon made Kevin Goldstein's season-ending Tuesday Morning Ten-Pack at Baseball Prospectus. As the article is behind the wall of BP's paid subscription, I won't post the comment, however, Kevin makes note of Brandon's domination of the Pioneer League, but, states that someone always puts up huge numbers in the Pioneer League and is never heard from again. Players such as Bobby Mosby, the previous Billings record holder for homeruns. Also, the 83 strikes in 267 at-bats is a huge red flag. In the end, Kevin states:

I’m not saying Waring is a fluke or a bust, I’m just saying that he’s upgraded his status to merely ‘keep an eye on him,’ as opposed to suddenly being a real power prospect.

Thats pretty much sums up how I feel about Waring. I am definately going to keep an eye on him a little closer than I would have. Not a top prospect by any means, but certainly someone to watch and see with.

Saw him last night in Dayton for the 2nd playoff game. Slight of built and looks all of 14 years of age - absolutely angelic. I predict he'll start next year at Dayton and will have hordes of teenage girls sporting the name "Waring" on their backs in glitter...

Can anyone who's been attending Dragons' home games comment on Kitty's prediction? :-)

Brandon starts this year like he ended last year. Hitting homeruns and striking out:

What is the normal or traditional time frame for players hitting this well to move up to the next level?

It depends somewhat on who they are. Brandon Waring played at a tiny college and was an 8th? round draft pick. I'm guessing he stays at Dayton through the end of the frst half of their season. If he's still hitting, you'll probably see him move to Sarasota for the 2nd half. Todd Frazier was a 1st round pick (supplemental) and probably should have been at Sarasota to start the season. Hopefully, the Reds will find a spot for him soon.

He is actually 13-25. Home Runs aren't 'in play'.

It says that he was a 7th round pick from Wofford earlier in this thread.
