    Homer on Minor League DL

    According to Trent:
Homer Bailey was put on the minor league DL with a strained right groin. It's the same injury that put him on the DL earlier this season.

    Maybe he's been playing injured?

According to Aronchis, it's because of hurt feelings that he is on the DL.

Nice to see that the minor league staff and the Reds are not hesistant to put Bailey on the DL even if it is something minor (which I'm assuming this is). It will also help in making sure he doesn't rack up too many IP's this year as he is closing in on 100 IP already this year.

It will help keep his innings down and hopefully keep his arm fresh so when he returns he is on top of his game.

Maybe he'll come back and pitch better....a little rest may do him well, and possibly get his velocity back up

Except his velocity was never down

I don't buy the "injury" arguement at all. His confidence is shot and they are trying to calm him down. The risk of taking a green 21 year old pitcher before he can substain dominance in AAA much less the Majors.

There it is. The "he's not really hurt" conspiracy theory. I don't buy it....

Its the Reds fault he has a strained groin. Those kind of things don't happen if your dominating AAA. If he wasn't brought up, he wouldn't have strained his groin.

I agree which is why I was puzzled that the Reds sent him out at the All star break saying that they wanted him to get his work in and not miss any time.

What's wrong with giving the kid a mid season break? I think he needs it more than the veterans. I'm glad he's getting it now but the Reds reasoning for sending him out before the break was a head scratcher for me.
