Bill Bray worked 1 1/3 innings tonite allowed 1 hit and fanned 3. How long before we see him Cincy? Must Stanton be traded first?

Harang will be back to take Stone's spot. IMO the Reds should keep trying to trade Stanton and leave Bray down a while longer. If no deal by July 31, the Reds should release Saarloos to make a spot for Bray.

Re: Bill Bray pitches well tonight

Why do I feel like Bill Bray will be back on the DL before he makes it back to the Reds this year? I have nothing to support that thought with; it's just a feeling I have...

You'd release a guy making 1.2 million this year? The year is lost, and there are many other options to send down instead of releasing a guy with Saarloos' movement. You've got Gosling up and Livingston up that can both be sent down without any problems, or even just send Saarloos down, he's still got options.

    Agree.

Saarloos, IMO, was not well used in the early season. He was pitched too often, and in short relief, not the role he was used to. Then he was suddenly made a starter.

As a long reliever/swing man he is an adequate major league pitcher. He also can be used to try to get a double play sometimes, he's an extreme ground ball pitcher.

Depending on the mix of pitchers next year, I wouldn't rule out Saarloos for the 11th or 12th spot on the staff. Of course, the price would have to be right. Even if not, I wouldn't cut him loose now.

The bullpen has a lot of lefties, with Bray and Guardado in the wings. I think the likelihood is that Stanton will be traded, or Gosling sent down, to make room for Bray.

IMO Saarloos is by far the worst pitcher on the roster. There are several pitchers in AAA that I would rather see have that spot. He adds nothing that players making the minimum don't add and the Reds can not possibly be thinking of going to arb with him next year. He's as good as gone already.

Saarloos was looking pretty good this year, and then he had a stretch of three horrible appearances. Without that three-game stretch, his ERA is under 3.00, and since being recalled, he has looked good again (6+ innings while allowing one run).

Better than Coffey as of late. Keep him.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Bill Bray 2 hitless innings with 2 walks and 4 stikeouts.
He's had 8 good appearances 9 scoreless innings and has allowed 7earned runs in 2 2/3 in the other 3.

    Overall in minors 11 games , 13 2/3 innings , 12 hit , 7 earned runs, 5 walks and 22 strikeouts 1win 1 loss 4.63 era.

Last 2 games 3 1/3-1 hit , 2walks, 7 strikeouts. Seems to be about ready , if not ready.

    Gotta wait another seven days.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Just in time for the trading deadline to create a roster spot.
