The talk in NY is that Joba will be brought up at some point to be the 8th inning setup man for Mariano. Their "Paplebon" if you will.

Votto is only 23. AAA is ok for this season. September call up is fine, or earlier if a trade.

But don't we plan on Votto being our first basemen on opening day 2008? Lets get him valuable experience now.

I notice Dorn had a good night . 4 for 4 with 4 singles. Do we think he can be a legitimate prospect?

Yeah, but if he's going to refashion himself as a more control-based pitcher that tosses in the upper-80s, low 90s then he's going to have to get hit around a bit until he finds what works.

It was smart to put him in AAA where he can work against more refined hitters. Nothing to lose by throwing him in the deep end and seeing if he figures out how to swim.

Yes. He has OPS'd over .900 every month since a horrible April.

    Code:
Month	AVG	G	AB	R	H	2B	3B	HR	RBI	BB	SO	SB	CS	OBP	SLG	OPS
    April	.190	22	84	4	16	5	0	1	13	9	18	2	0	.274	.286	.559
    May	.310	28	100	18	31	8	0	5	21	7	17	1	0	.377	.540	.917
    June	.299	24	87	18	26	5	1	4	24	11	19	0	1	.394	.517	.911
    July	.409	12	44	7	18	3	0	2	7	3	9	0	0	.458	.614	1.072
He is 23 years old, but he is producing at a very high level for his league.

And it's nice to see that even when he wasn't hitting in April, he continued to walk. It makes slumps easier to take.
