As I have mentioned before, the Cris Carpenter who pitched in this game is not the same Chris Carpenter who currently plays for the Cards. Also, the Craig Wilson who played 3B for the Cardinals is not the same Craig Wilson who is best-known as a slugger for the Pirates, and was released from the Braves earlier in the season.

Jeff Shaw? Isn't he the guy that's retired but living close to Cincinnati? I heard the Reds had a scout looking at him and he's interested in signing next week.

And Big Klu, thanks for taking the time to put these up. I love looking at the different lineups from past years. Some years it makes you cringe and other years it makes you smile.

Rick Reuschel was real Red killer. It didn't matter if he pitched for the Cubs,Giants or whoever else he played with. He would beat them. I doubt that he lost to the Reds more than a handful of times.

I hated it when he pitched against the Reds.
In '87 when the Reds were in their yearly "close-but-not-close-enough" run, I seem to recall the Reds going after him while he threw with Pittsburg.
Of course San Fran ended up with him in August.

I see he was catching for Niekro, too. One of of my favorite quotes from him was that the easiest way to catch a knuckleball was to pick it up when it stopped rolling.

Glad you appreciate it. I started doing this back in June when a lot of us (myself included) were complaining about some of Jerry's lineups. I went back to see what some of the past lineups looked like, and it has sort of taken on a life of its own.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy these threads. I like seeing the names of the past from the Reds and other teams. There are some games coming up in the next few days I actually attended. Do you get these lineups from Retrosheet or another site? Just wondering.
