I hate to say it, but a thread title change should be in order.

    Very tragic news.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

Really sad news. Skip was one of those coaches you couldn't help but root for wherever he was. He will be truely missed.

    Yikes...56.

I'm starting to get old enough were 56 is "far too young".

    Very sad.

Wow! I hate to see this. He was way too young. He was a very good coach who seemed like a very good person. He put Xavier hoops back on the map and I always wondered if he regretted leaving there for the pressure cooker ACC school.

The media weighs in. There's a pretty powerful theme running through these and all of the other reflections that are out there.

    Mike DeCourcy

    Andy Katz

    Wake beat writer Dan Collins.

At Wake, one of the traditions is Rolling the Quad (aka TP-ing) after a big win. Skip sent lots of emails to the students before games, and "see you on the Quad at midnight" was one of his signature lines.

Several hundred folks got together last night to roll the quad for Skip. Chris Paul flew home from NY to be there for it.
