Dunn makes $10 million this year. Dunn is 27 and entering his prime.

Soriano signed an 8 year $130 million contract ($17 million per year!) even though he is 31 years old and past his prime. That is a huge amount of money for an older player. Is Soriano going to be worth $17 million during his age 39 season? I doubt it. This doesn't compare to Dunn's contract at all. Plus Dunn is having a better more productive season than Soriano. Compared to Soriano, Adam Dunn is a huge bargain.

The free agent market is going to be extremely thin this winter. No matter how much money the Reds have to spend they won't be able to drastically improve the team by hiring free agents. Not this year. Especially in pitching.

The results of this poll surprised me somewhat. There is often so much animosity toward Adam I was expecting most people to want the draft picks instead of picking up the option.I understand the draft picks are not a sure thing; still it is not what I expected.

Lets say the Reds offer Dunn arbitration.

    A. He declines - Reds get draft picks

    B. He accepts - Reds trade Dunn for ML ready talent

My question is if Dunn accepts - how much money do you think he will get and when can he be traded?

I changed my mind.... Decline the option and go after TORII HUNTER!!!!! Expensive I know, but his defense is worth the extra 2-3 mill a year that it would take to get him over Dunn. Plus he's a solid right handed middle of the order bat.

Re: The Adam Dunn's Option Poll

Let's say we keep Griffey and Dunn both for 2008.Both of them will be without a contract in 2009. Jay Bruce will take one of the starting outfield spots, but who will take the other? I think Chris Dickerson is a possibility, but he will need to cut down on the strikeouts. The only other possibility will be to sign a outfielder in the 2007 or 2008 off-season.I still think we need to sign Adam to a short extension. I would like it if there was another alternative; I just don't see one for now.

You gonna tell us who they are? I'm pretty sure the 3rd one is Dunn, but I'm unsure of the 1st two.
