    2008 Opening Day Line up

Got this idea from the ORG. Post the lineup you think we'll see on opening day.

    1. Hamilton - Centerfield
    2. Phillips - 2nd Base
    3. Griffey - Right Field
    4. Dunn - Left Field (Hopefull there will be a manager that'll put him in this spot)
    5. Edwin - 3rd Base
    6. Votto - 1st Base
    7. Gonzales - Shortstop
    8. Ross - Catcher
    9. Harang - Pitcher

    1 Freel 3b
    2 Hamilton CF
    3 Griffey RF
4 Phillips 2b (he's really shown me something hitting there)
    5 Dunn LF
    6 A Gon SS
    7 Votto/Hatteberg 1b
    8 Ross Ca
    9 Harang P

Edwin I think is traded this offseason and we get burned like Paul O'Neill for Roberto Kelly.

We need someone to lead off that gets on base. Freel doesn't get on base enough to be a lead off hitter. Yeah he can swipe bags but it doesn't help if he doesn't get on. I like how Hatte is leading off sometimes now, don't need speed to lead off.

OK...just a wild thought here. What are the chances that the Reds bring in a new leadoff hitter in 2008...to replace Encarnacion?

I agree with Prf15. Freel and Hopper's OBP is lacking when it comes to hitting leadoff. Votto will probably be up next year so that would eliminate Hatteburg as an option.

It seems like they don't like Edwin so it's possible

EE's bad year at the plate and his consistently poor fielding could be used to justify making a move.

Wayne won't bring in a leadoff hitter for 08. He probably will improve the team very minimally just like he did this year and it ended up costing me my job.

I don't think there are many 3B who are also leadoff hitters. I think Edwin deserves a chance to prove 2007 was just a sophomore slump.

The Reds have a really tough decision to make with Dunn/Bruce. I think at $13 Million is cheap enough where you have to pick up the option but Bruce has raked at AA and AAA this year and assuming he doesn't fall flat on his face in spring training he deserves to be with the team. Add in the no-trade clause until June and the situation is even more sticky.

Dunn should have a breakout season with all that lineup protection.

I love the idea of Bruce, Hamilton and Votto in the order. If they trade Dunn hopefully they either get or sign a big right handed bat for the order. Also, a better lead-off man would be great. But that lineup has tons of potential. If bailey and cueto pitch like they're capable of, along with Arroyo and Harang, then the reds are a good bullpen from being in the race for a long time.
