    Horrific Fall Video

This is from the xgames, which I've never watched, but I saw this on the news earlier today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBvCrSjpx9I

The funny part is that even after the fall one of the announcers says "wow, I can't believe he made that 720." And it was only seconds after the dude hit the ground that he said that.

Hitters who avoid outs are the funnest.

That guy is in the hospital with a lacerated kidney. He should make a full recovery. I saw that last night on X-games and was amazed he got up. That is one tough Aussie.

Love the X-games. This guy landed perfectly, I'd say, to not have seriously hurt himself. I can only imagine what he was thinking on his way down.

I don't know, but he was pinwheeling his arms like Wile E. Coyote. The only thing missing was the puff of dust upon contact.

Luckiest landing ever. His feet bore the brunt of the impact, but his body position somehow prevented his knees from hyperextending. His feet kicked out, his *shoes* got knocked off, and the rest of his body kind of rolled and distributed the impact.

    Unbelievable.

That's some fall. Someone tell me, though- what is supposed to happen at the end of the jump? Do guys normally fly up in the air and just come back down on their board? Or do they always just crash to the ground like that after those long jumps?

And the little sign saying "HELP" before he plunged downward.

They are supposed to stay on the board the entire way. Falling off the board, in effect, nullifies whatever trick you may have done in the air. At least that is my understanding.

Yes, you go up the quarter pipe, get about 15-20 feet out and come back in just like you came up. His problem was his feet were not set right going up the quarter pipe and let me just tell you, if you arent comfortable, or aren't set right you are in big trouble.

I will tell you this much, I have never fallen that hard (I ride bikes on stuff like that. Not quite that size obviously, but 10-12 foot tall stuff sometimes) and I have no idea how he didnt break his feet, leg, ligaments and tendons with that landing.

If he really fell 50 feet, that's like falling off a 4 story building.

I can't understand how it didn't hurt him very badly, and could have easily killed him.

    Re: Horrific Fall Video

I've known a few people who have fallen from about 40-50 feet, and only one of them survived.
