1-2-3 first for Maloney with 2 K's. According to the Lookouts announcer he should have K'd the side but the ump completely missed the call.

Are the announcers saying anything about Maloney's stuff on his breaking pitches? I remember reading that last time they were raving about his curve and slider.

And BTW, thanks for the updates BearcatShane (and everyone else who contributes as well).

Well, the announcer said on one pitch that his fastball was 88 mph, and moved from off the plate to the corner.

One thing ya gotta give WK credit for is picking up three lefties with quite a bit of upside in Smit, Jukich and Maloney. All three have been pitching lights out since coming to the Reds.

It took Jukich a few starts, but he's now throwing great.

Unless his fastball is much better than advertised, I see a guy that will probably struggle against better hitters in AAA.

IDK about that. From what I hear he has pretty good control and lefties typically don't throw very hard anyway.

19 K's in his first two starts for the Lookouts. Great job by Matt, hopefully he keeps it up.
