    Ryan Hanigan comes through...

    Single...Herr scores...Cantu to 3rd....Janish up....2 outs down 2-1.

janish pops out to the 2nd baseman...Bats lose 2-1.

Still a good outing by Cueto even if he did give up a lot of runners.

Nice at-bat by Votto in the 9th...Good day by Hamilton.. Bruce with an extra-base hit against a tough pitcher, and Cantu with 2 hits and continues to play defense without errors.

Somebody mark my words, Cantu will be starting for the Reds Opening Day 2008. Not sure where, but he will be.

I am not sure about that; I have heard he has a lot of work to do on his defense.

Cueto pitched alright tonight. Although I wasn't behind the dish, I didn't think he was as sharp as his last outing. He got behind a lot of batters, and had some making up to do. All but 2 of the hits (a double, and the homerun) were weak groundballs that found holes. The homerun came on a 2-1 fastball. Appeared as if he was going inside, but missed his spot out over the plate. Can't do that to the supposedly new future 1st baseman of the Pirates. So, his 5 innings of work he yielded the 2-run homer after walking a batter. Not bad.

Can't be too upset when on an off night you allow just 2 runs in 5 innings. Sucked that the Bats bats (that was weird to type) couldn't get it done tonight.... that happens though.

    Thanks for the insight.

No reason not to pick up his option in any event. They could always trade him, as he's a really good hitter making (comparable) peanuts.

The homer by Indy 1st baseman Steve Pearce was his 27th this season he had 25 in AA. Was the one real mistake pitch of the night. Cueto was helped by Bruce throwing out Eldred at the plate , for the 5 innings he worked Johnny did what you want a starter to do kept his team in the game.

After 3 AAA starts by the 21 year old he's , 2-1 with a 2.25 era. In 16 innings he's fanned 15 and walked only 2 not a bad showing at all.
