No emotion whatsoever outside a certain grim satisfaction knowing A-Rod will shatter it in a few years.

Maybe not love, but cheer for? Maybe I'm fickle, but Cincy would have been behind him.

It had nothing to do with his on field performance. But, I have heard stories about Pete and cork....

However, even if Pete did cheat, the second he slid hard into second, the fans would forgive him.

I don't care about his accomplishments on the field when it comes to gambling. I consider Ruth the best player ever, but if it were proven that he gambled, I would want him thrown out of the HOF. Gambling is very serious and could lead to game fixing. Nothing is worse than game fixing. Cork? I've heard about that. That sure wouldn't have kept Pete out of the HOF. Only Gambling could do that.

But, it is easy to say that when he is no longer getting 200 hits a season, pursuing Ty Cobb, and helping win games. But if he were still playing, Reds fans would still love him (or at least us West-Siders would...)
