    Re: Ryan Jorgenson

At the very least he has a better feel for the guys in the pen and the starters from L'ville having caught them the last two years or less.

They have a big long list on catcher stats on the ORG, asking the question "where is Moehler on this list."
A better question is, "where is Ross on this list."

Once again, I watched him last week against the Padres. As soon as the Padres got a runner on first, he sets up on the outside of the plate (so that he has the angle on the guy going to second, cause you know he is sooooo good throwing out the baserunners 41&#37

What happens next? The same thing I have seen over and over and over again this season.
The hitter is sitting on that pitch and the next thing you know the PDres are right back in it with a 2 run dinger.
Was it the pitchers fault, NIMHO

Good luck Ryan, the bar is not set too high for your debut, so go at it and remember,
it is OK to set up inside on batters

Bingo. What I was saying, without so many words, is when you know a guy may read what you're writing, it's pretty tasteless to sit there and try to rip him. It's one thing when it's not personal, but to say something about a guys career without anything to back it up is completely out of line. The whole part about talking with your fingers instead of your mouth is true. Unless you're looking for a lawsuit, if you were to run into Ryan in public, face to face, I think it goes without saying that you wouldn't be ripping him like you do here. Unless, of course, it's your thing to get dropped by a 6'2" 220 lb professional athlete..............

As far as the statement directed towards me.................I go 6'3" 230, and don't live in Germany.....so that's pretty much idle talk.

Anything I type on here can be read by anyone. I would pretty much guarantee that you-know-who isn't the only professional athlete who has read some things on this message board. For you to say that it's tasteless is your opinion, but personally, I think it would be tasteless to refrain from talking about someone because of who might hear it. If you don't, then you're just talking behind people's backs.

Anyway, the things I'm saying about you-know-who's performance on the field are nothing personal. I actually have nothing against her/him personally. In fact, I've already said that I like you-know-who over Chad Moeller. Anything negative I have to say about you-know-who's abilities can be backed up by years of data, which I've shared. For example, you-know-who has a career batting average of .219 outside of A-ball. That is very poor. He's considered a "defensive specialist", but so is Miguel Perez, who has a higher ceiling.

I wish you-know-who all the best. If he became an All-Star for any team in the Major Leagues, I'd say, "That's awesome. Good for him," and I'd tell some friends about my interactions with him and have a good laugh about it.

By the way, if you-know-who acted in real life how he did to me here, I'd react the same way even if he were 8'6", 900 lbs. It doesn't matter how big anyone is--I'm still going to be honest about my feelings because that's how I've always done things (even though it sometimes gets me in trouble). I'm in Cincinnati for a couple more weeks, but I'll be going home at the end of the month. My talk wasn't idle at all.

Congrats Ryan! Go up there, make up proud, prove the naysayers wrong, and challenge Ross for a starting spot!

I think the point of the thread was to offer congratulations to a poster for getting the call to Big Club. Anything other than congratulations should be taken elsewhere or better left alone. I for one will raise a glass and hope he does well for the Reds, which is what we all should hope for.

There has to be some serious karma with the RedsZone. Ryan joins and within a few weeks, Wayne trades his lovechild, Chad Moeller, away and then Ross suffers a freak concussion, giving our boy a ticket to the Show.

    Congrat's, Ryan.

Soak it in and don't be a stranger.

Fine and good, but realize you're also coming off like a (fill in creative noun here). Is it really necessary to harp like that?

I figured it were possible, but I'm not too concerned with it. I think being a (fill in creative noun here) is much worse than acting like one, and I've made an effort to avoid only being the former.

Anyway, to summarize, I feel misinterpreted and misunderstood, and I think people have confused my motivations for what I've said. There was one time I was saying something to you-know-who based on a personal level, and I was asked to stop, so I did. Since then, I've been objective. I wish you-know-who all the best, and I hope he shocks MLB by hitting .250+.

You always say that you speak your mind and opinions freely no matter who is listening, I don't think there is anyway to misinterperet some of your comments directed at another poster on a thread to congratulate him for getting the call to the bigs. Even in your above comment quoted by myself you leave yet another veiled shot at this poster. I think being tactful and classy are much better qualities than holding a grudge. Just my opinion.

It's going to be interesting to hear his scouting report on Harang and company.

It's not so much what I'm saying that's being misinterpreted--it's my motivation for why I'm saying it. People are being nice to you-know-who because he posts here, but if he didn't post here, the reaction would be almost completely different. He was a jerk to people before, and even though his tone has improved, it is only because his career was put in jeopardy. He's continued to be a jerk to some people here, including me, but I haven't been nice to him either, so I'm not going to hold that against him. When I said the thing about hoping he shocks the world by hitting .250+, that wasn't a shot at you-know-who but more a shot at the people who are defending him. This is obviously a crazy way of putting it, but maybe you'll get a better idea of what I mean: If people are defending Hitler, and I think Hitler is really bad, when I say something bad about Hitler, it's my way of taking a shot at those who are defending him.

Just to iterate, I don't currently have a problem with you-know-who (but I did once take a shot at him as a passive-aggressive retaliation for what he said to RedsZoners). I just have a problem with non-moderators telling me how to post and telling me that I have something against him when I don't.

This is all so silly. Some of it's my fault, and I'm sorry for that, but can we just get back to talking about baseball? I really do hope he finds what he's looking for.

Camisadelgolf, why don't you come out and just use his name - Voldemort! There I said it. Also do you think Marge Schott would have thought this player was good at first, but then he wasn't? He made the highways run, right?
