I'd rather see what Votto can do but I'm happy Cantu is on the team. He'll be a good bat off the bench and I hope he can adjust to 1st base.

great start doesn't see a pitch he doesn't like i dont' think. If he can return to the numbers he had that monster year in tampa it will be a great steal for wayne.

Someone told Jorge that he couldn't hit. His response: Cantu!

i thought the ball he hit with the bases loaded was headed for the seats, but the ball just didn't seem to be carrying there tonight.

    Re: Maybe Cantu Can do!

From his quotes, he seems genuinely happy to have the opportunity to contribute somewhat regularly again.

"Let's put it this way," he explained. "Tampa Bay just went in some other direction. I didn't fit in their plans. There was a lot of stuff going on. It was a real long year for me. I'm glad I'm with a team that respects what I've done in the Major Leagues and has confidence in me. That's why I'm here. All I want to do right now is everything possible to win and help my new teammates. Hopefully, they'll appreciate the hard work I'll put in."

    And.....

"I put up decent numbers after that injury," he said. "I don't know what happened this year. In Spring Training, I guess I didn't stand a chance. That's part of the business. Right now I'm a Cincinnati Red, and I will do everything possible to help the team win."
It's way too early to call it, but Cantu seems like a good, low risk pickup by Krivs.

Plus this team is headed toward a predominantly lefty position:Bruce, Hamilton,Votto,Dunn (?) Griffey .
A good RH bat will come in handy.

He doesn't deserve a chance to start anywhere he could play. There are better options at all positions.

    Re: cantu looks good

if they keep everyone this year and they play like they have in the second have of this year
we will have a great starting lineup with a stacked bench for each game
that makes me a little exciting to get to next year
Whatcha gonna do, brother, when Brennemania runs wild on you!!

I would expect to see Cantu as a bench player next year with some starts at 1B against tough lefties.
