The Stubbs pick was the curious one--especially when all of the draftniks said that he could develop into a regular major league outfielder IF HE LEARNED HOW TO HIT.
It's one thing to miss out on a Pujols who few knew about and, even though the Cards had scouted him, they still waited until Round 12 to grab him. You can't afford to miss in the first round.
That being said, interesting that two of the guys that most Reds fans pin their future hopes on are Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce--drafted in the Dim O'Brian era.

That is true. I live in Omaha. He was a fat tub, who transferred from UNK and only played one season at a high level, he was hurt part of his senior year.

He really turned it on after he got drafted, lost like 50 lbs. He was an anamoly really that he would develop so fast.
