    Coutlanges vs other bullpen guys

Thanks to Lance for doing the calculations, while I did other work

    1st batter retired %

    Coutlanges (37-57) - 65%

    Coffey (29-48) - 60%

    Stanton (33-55) - 60%

Burton (18-32) - 56% - I think his is improving as we speak..

    Weathers (36-55) - 65%

    Inherited runners/scored %

    Coutlanges (49-11) - 22%

    Coffey (39-18) - 46%

    Stanton (41-14) - 34%

    Burton (16-3) - 18%

    Weathers (27-8) - 30%

Judging by this (and not ERA)...Coutlanges should be up here.

    Found it interesting.

Are you saying that Krivs is full of poo? It sounds like that is what you are saying.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

It seemed to me like Coutlangus was falling into some bad habits (he had been walking a lot of people right before being sent down), so he was sent down to work on stuff so he wasn't working out the kings while with the Reds. If he has the options, why not use them?

Either that or he really thinks the fans aren't very intelligent and will take everything he says as gospel...

His last 5 apperances as a Red, he didn't walk a batter

I'd rather use the options when he really is struggling...

True, but over his last seven IP, he had walked eight hitters. Don't get me wrong--I like Coutlangus--but when you combine has last several Reds outings with his recent performances with the Bats, you might have to wonder if there's something wrong with his mechanics or something.

    As a Bat this year:
    6 G
    5.2 IP
    10 H
    8 ER
    4 BB
    12.71 ERA

Coutlangus may or may not should be up here.. but his Louisville numbers have me wondering otherwise..

Marcus McBeth is the one who deserves the recall in my opinion...

But that's not the reason he's in Louisville. Wayne even said why he's there in his interview today. It has to do with Cooter letting guys get on base.

He's allowed baserunners in 26 of his 40 appearances.

    That's why he's there.

I think this is a wake up call for Cout and maybe they feel Ted Power can do more for him right now than Tom Hume.

Interesting stuff from McAlister, actually. All we have to go by are Wayne's words, and his words today are odd in light of the actual facts.

I wouldn't mind going that direction, anyway.

Yep. It's much better to allow extra-base hits ala Mike Stanton.

I hear ya. For what it's worth, I think the best pitching coach in the organization is in Chattanooga, Grant Jackson

It may not be a bad idea to keep your best pitching coach down there to mold younger players...
