The Bill Bray thread

I created a thread for Majewski, so I have now decided to create one for Bill Bray. I will start with listing his 2006 stats, since that is a larger sample size. I will only list his Red stats. He was 1-1 last year with a 3.91 ERA in 19 games. He pitched 23 innings, gave up 24 hits, 11 runs, 10 earned, gave up 2 hr, and walked 9 and struck out 16. I will now list this year's stats: 3-1 with a 2.45 era in 9 games. He has pitched 7 1 /3 innings, given up 7 hits, 2 runs(both earned, walked three and struck out 7. One thing I found interesting is that he had a .111 BA allowed vs. LHB, and a .316 BA allowed vs. RHB. Both of these years are a small sample size, but what he has shown us already has given us encouragement that he can help the Reds bullpen for a long time(despite his bad performance in the nightcap tonight).

Yea it was a bad night for Bray but for how hes been pitching I can handle a night where he gives up a triple. Some times you just cant help what happens behind you.

I hope. These guys have a great attitude when they come in the game. They seem cocky enough to take over a game.

Only a guy like leatherpants gets rid of pitching prospects like Bray. Young, former first rounder who has the potential to be a closer at best and at worst a valuable lefty specialist. He is the reason we have struggled this decade and we are still feeling the effects of it IMO.

I see Burton and Bray as potential back-end guys and Coutlangus as a pretty valuable LOOGY, but I don't agree on Majewski. I'm more excited about the futures of McBeth and Salmon.

I'm more excited at the kids sitting in Chattanooga than any of them. Carlos Guevara, Josh Roenicke, Pedro Viola are the big 3. Rick Asadoorian is a good story, was converted to a pitcher and has been very good for the Lookouts.

That could be pretty good in a couple years, but it's alot to ask for all those guys to pan out. Of the three at Chattanooga I like Roenicke the best. With relief arms, the good thing is that we seem to have a lot of guys with potential. Certainly some will fall off the map as they move up, but a few should be able to help this team by 2009.

Now back to your regularly scheduled discussion about Bill Bray.

I can't really disagree with you Mc. I like those two guys as well. I just have this suspicion that Majewski is going to surprise some people and be better than expected. Time will tell!

He got his first hold this year tonight. 1/3 of an inning, 1 strikeout, and he lowered his ERA to 2.35.

1 2/3 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts today. I would imagine unless Bray suffers another injury; he should be guaranteed a roster spot in the bullpen in 2008.
