Man, it sure is nice to see Joey Votto's name in the Reds lineup.

Indeed, I am glad (and surprised) that he is getting some starts this year.

He's getting almost all the starts vs. RH pitchers since he's come up.

That's a testament to Mackanin, not Wayne, however. Since Wayne was brutally hesitant to even bring him up. I'm glad Joey kicked the door down, was unwilling to be denied despite the FO's best efforts.

Yes he has and it's been great to see. I honestly did not think he'd get this much playing time. I've been pleasantly surprised.

Isn't it weird that Jerry Narron, a former catcher, always batted a his catcher 8th and now Mac, a former middle infielder, bats shortstops 2nd.

I really have no point here. Sorry.

How do we explain La Russa batting pitchers 8th?

I think Mack said when Votto was brought up that he would receive the bulk of the playing time. So far he has and that's a good thing. We are seeing that he can do it on this level and that gives the Reds some good options for the off season.
LaRussa is playing genious again with the Cards lineup. Pitcher batting eighth and 2b batting 9th.

    Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds

Wonder what the Cards TV team will be whining about in today's game since they already covered the following last night:

    1. Brandon Phillips baseless complaints on Pujols
    2. Why the word Great is used in GAB b/c there's nothing great about it - in fact it looks unfinished
    3. How the Reds bullpen always implodes in the 8th and the same will happen today
    4. Brandon Phillips is a hot dog the way he runs the bases after a HR
    5. Jim Edmonds will be agreeable to a move to RF next season just like Junior was this year
    6. Unlike the Reds, the great Cardinals fans show in good times and bad

and on and on and on with the usual Cardinals arrogance. I know some of what was said is true - I just don't need to hear it piped out all night long on a broadcast of a baseball game. Just call the game like you're supposed to.

I'll say it again - it's never a bad day when the Reds beat the Cards.

And it's a better week when they sweep them.

    Here's to a sweep!

I really thought they'd be off and running against Stinnett today.
