The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

Word is Homer starts Thursday. Simulated start went well. Don't know more.

Oh. My bad. I thought you hinting that something happened with Bailey this past Thursday.

I was sort of hoping they would shut him down for the rest of the year.

That would be in SF vs the Giants.

Interesting choice. Show the world he's not "injured" perhaps.

If Bonds starts then we know Bailey will have at least four walks in his start then. Or maybe three walks a bomb given up.

I doubt the Reds FO gives a lick what the rest of the world thinks about Homer. It's pretty clear that they need him in the rotation next year. I think 2-3 starts to end the year are supposed to be a benchmark for him (i.e. this is where we are and this is where we want to be so this is what we need to work on during the off season/spring).

I'm ok with it....what do you have to lose...a ball game?

Of course, if he throws that 12-6 curve that I have seen him throw...and it is filthy.....and it's in control....

    Oh my.

    Re: Bailey Starts Thursday

The only thing to take away from these remaining starts is his delivery. Fastball delivery was rushed and he was not finishing in his last two big league starts. His breaking ball was only consistent in his start vs. the A's. Let's see if he has made any strides. If he has then ST '08 could be another leap for him.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Apparently nobody told Jax about the code of silence.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

This is good IMO. Baily needs innings. 15 to 20 between now and the end of the season should help next year regardless of the results.

Should be interesting, if not pretty.

Hope he's healthy. Not that anyone would actually know.
