    Nuxhall battling cancer again

I couldn't find if this had been mentioned yet, so I thought I'd start a thread. Just saw this column in the DDN. Let's all wish Joe a speedy recovery.

Joe Nuxhall will have to fight a fourth bout of lymphoma.

Last month the Reds Hall of Famer and Hamilton native noticed a knot on his right side at the base of his rib cage.

"The doctor said he wanted to get it off there, and that was about a week ago," the 79-year-old Fairfield resident said this morning.

Son Kim Nuxhall said his dad will be getting treatments doctors believe will be effective.

"The doctors are encouraged, treating it with new technology that has been out in California," he said.

Joe Nuxhall is expected to begin chemotherapy Monday. Kim Nuxhall said his dad will have a series of treatments for the next few weeks.

A true legend and one of the few remaining living connections to a time in baseball, and in America as well, that is long past.

Well said. I'm not that old, but still hearing Joe's voice on the radio reminds me of the carefree days of my youth.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Nuxie!

Listening to the game the other night, I didn't think that Nuxie sounded like he felt really well. It may have just been an effect of this.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
