Hanigan has a career .381 OBP in the minors.

At least Mac looks up the stats.

At least this lineup will cut down on Kepp hitting into DPs.

What a sad, sad day. The last Reds game until March 31st. Man, where did the season go?

This is the worst day of the year.

I agree with you. I always feel a certain sort of sadness on the last day of the regular season. It's like saying good bye, for a few months, to a good friend.

This is a rather depressing - almost empty - day. Almost as bad are those off days between playoff games and the playoffs and the world series - those days when you finally realize the season is truly winding down, and baseball won't be found at night for a while.

But, hey - wait until next year.

This offseason is going to be long for me because I'm pretty pumped about next year already. Jay Bruce will hopefully arrive, as will Johnny Cueto. We'll see (hopefully) full seasons from Josh Hamilton, Joey Votto, and Homer Bailey. Dunn should be fully healthy. The bullpen could be improved if they go with some of the younger guys. The rotation could be improved if Homer continues to make progress. I'm pretty excited about next season. Hopefully Wayne and company give us reason to be excited this offseason.

I would really like to see the likes of Coutlangus, Bray, Salmon, McBeth and Burton get some serious looks, rather than bring in more veteran help like Stanton, Stone or Cormier.
I know those five had some rough spots - but all five seemed to have showings of brilliance as well. I would like to think that, with some experience under their belts, that combination could become a good bullpen.

EDIT: Wait...Jay is in the clubhouse/dugout of the big club for the last couple of days? I missed that.

    Cool.

How can he put out a lineup like this? We're contending...

Actually, I suppose the best last-day lineup in recent memory was probably in '99, for obvious reasons.

    All too true.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
