Akili never had a chance. Holdout throughout much of training camp and then inserted into the starting line-up way way wayyy before he could have POSSIBLY been ready. Hell, he only played one year at Oregon, IIRC.
I'll never forget that game he was thrown to the wolves versus the Steelers. He got absolutely creamed on a sack, but still held onto the ball.
