Anyone watch 'The Contender' on ESPN?

Great show. Got me hooked this season. Who are you rooting for if you watch the show? Maybe this will somehow bring back the truth and grassroots part of boxing. Clean the grime.

I don't know if it can take off like a WWE/MMA type brutality sport. It seems like most of the 16-25 year old age group doesn't know a thing about boxing. And that is boxings fault alone.

People today just want brutality and obvious hits/submissions. The sweet science just isn't known by enough people, IMO.

Just wondering who else watches the show and who they root for?
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

I've watched it since Season Two and really enjoy it. Last night's match was very good, IMO. I'm rooting for Jaidon this season.

Boxing's actually in a good spot, its popularity is slowly but surely coming back. They've finally realized the beating they are taking buyrate-wise by MMA, but as much as hardcore boxing purists hate MMA, it's actually BECAUSE of MMA that many people are getting back into boxing. I alone know tons of people who have rediscovered boxing through MMA, that were disenchanted with it in the past. To boxing's credit, they are grabbing the ring and running with it, because they've had their best year in a long time, and are actually having good, competitive undercards on some of these upcoming big pay-per-view shows. For instance, next month, Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley fight in the main event, but the undercard has #5 ranked Antonio Margarito against #27 Golden Johnson, #1 in his division Joel Cassamayor against Jose Armando Santa Cruz and Vitor Ortiz (a really good up-and-comer) against Carlos Maussa.

Then the Floyd Mayweather-Ricky Hatton card has #6 ranked Jeff Lacy against #12 Pete Manfredo and Amir Khan (HUUUUUGE star in England right now) against Graham Earl. These are strongest undercards I can remember in boxing in at least a decade.

Me too. Not only is it inspiring what he's doing with the passing of his father, he also reminds me of young Mike Tyson with the high-fade haircut with the line in front.
