The BCS Will Be A Mess This Year

I love it. The BCS is going to be a mess again this year. I've been saying all along that Ohio State just isn't that good. And today's game agains Kent has no bearing at all in my assessment of them, but they've looked better this year than I ever thought they would. While I still don't think they're a great team, they're much better than I thought they would be, and I think they're much better than most people are giving them credit for now. That defense might be the best in the country. They're ridiculously good. But I think last year's title game is too fresh in the memories of college football fans for them to think the Buckeyes are legtimately good. I still think they'll lose at some point, but it's entirely possible they'll run the table.

Yeah I agree with you on all counts, I'm just glad it's all in their hands now. Win out and they get a shot, lose and they don't, I can't ask for more than that.

Lot of tough games ahead, Penn State and Michigan will both be tough. Not sure about Wisconsin, I am really surprised at how bad they have been.

The odds are getting better and better that we're going to see someone really weird like Boston College or South Florida in the national title game. If they both lose then it'll be chaos, tons of one loss teams.

I think OSU is a very good team, however, I think Michigan will beat them. That's just how it's been this year. The unthinkable has happened over and over and over.

I was thinking that Oregon has a chance to get back in the NC race but then I just read that their stud RB Johnson is out for the year along with Cameron Colvin who is one of their top receivers. This coming a week after their #2 receiver Brian Paysinger went down for the year. They have impressed me just as much as anyone in the country, however, they are now lacking depth at key offensive positions.

Yeah, I have a feeling this is the year they lose to Michigan as well. It will be this senior class' last chance to beat OSU which they have yet to do. And I think everyone will know it's Lloyd Carr's last regular season coaching game.

I think it will all come down to Mike Hart. He's tough to stop any time, but when he's got a chip on his shoulder, which he'll have that game, he takes it to another level. He's a special football player.

The fact that it's being played in Michigan this year gives them the edge.

Bad day to be a football player out west. USC lost Sam Baker and Rey Maulauga to injuries. Oregon lost two key players and now ASU just lost their best player to an ankle injury as he leaves on crutches.

USC has lost 3/5th's of it's starting Oline and the other two are banged up.

Not to pick nits, but there's actually still six, I believe... Kansas also is unbeaten. But you might be right in a little bit, last I saw, Arizona State was trailing Washington 17-10, but there was plenty of time left - but it might be five yet. Six at the most.

lol @ California's QB, Riley. I feel bad for him, but jeez... terrible.

Last and certainly not least, regarding UK.... That's about all I can do. I'm glad I have it recorded.

Apparently Pac-10 QB's are playing drunk tonight because Rudy Carpenter of ASU just pulled the same stunt that Riley did - only Carpenter did it right before halftime.

While I think Michigan is being ignored in the media because of their early disasters, I don't know if I would go that far. I think it is safe to say that Purdue isn't very good. Had Boeckman, not thrown those three long interceptions, I think Ohio State would have put up at least another 10-14 points against them at home, at night. Northwestern gave Michigan all sorts of problems until they imploded. They had problems last week, against (insert direction) Michigan. I don't think Michigan has gotten past their demons, they just aren't looking around dark corners.

Mike Hart will have more to give than he had last year, with a national championship chance in the balance?

I don't know if it matters where Michigan plays Ohio State. Tressel has shown he can win in AA, and that game could be for all the marbles again, and Ohio State has veteran leadership on defense.

Ohio State is going to have more problems with Penn State, imo. They can play defense, and they probably will decide to actually use their receivers that game, something JoePa occasionally forgets. Michigan State can score points as well. It will be interesting to see what Ohio State can do against teams that can actually fight back, even if they are flawed.

That is, if Mike Hart can stay on the field.

    It could be Boston College.

Off the top of my head:

OSU is #1. South Florida is 2. BC is three. LSU is 4. Arizona State is 8. Oregon is 10. USC 14.

I think that UK could very well be in the top two. Maybe number one. I think the national title game could very well be a Ohio and Kentucky showdown.
If you can't build a winning team with that core a fire-sale isn't the solution. Selling the franchise, moving them to Nashville and converting GABP into a used car lot is.
