The logical choice to start would be to take a look at FA folks who have played for Dusty before. Unfortunately I'm getting ready to begin my shift at work or I would like to just that.

The big one would be Joe Nathan, being as we obviously need a closer.

Seems like this thread would benefit from having this list.

That list is scary. Is there a Plan "B"?

Barrett, Wood and, maybe, Linebrink. I wouldn't want him, but I would not be surprised to see the Reds take a look at Livan Hernandez. Corey Patterson could probably put up some gaudy hr and steal totals and play some decent cf defense at GAB, albeit while failing to get on base much. Not a lot there, but not nothing either.

Teams likely will overpay for all the Kyle Lohse-types out there but pass on Livan Hernandez as a washed up has-been. If that is the case and he is overlooked, he'd be a decent gamble for a number four-five starter. However, I certainly wouldn't want to see the Reds overpay for a gamble of this nature.
