There are a few new trends that really get on my nerves. Maybe it's because my picture is in the dictionary next to the definition of "curmudgeon." Anyway, I have a tendency to get miffed by anything that becomes the new trendy thing and I will more often than not rebel against that thing. Here's my latest list.
1. Replacing S with Z. Maybe I'm just a spelling and grammar freak, but this one really gets me. It's boys, not boyz. The other day I was in the truck stop looking for some breakfast bars and I purposely didn't buy one because the label said Snack Barz.
2. There is a rather recent trend that I first noticed a couple years ago. Maybe it was being done before, but that's when I noticed it. It's these photos of people from slightly above with the person looking up at the camera. You're looking down from above on the person and because of the way the photo is taken you see the head bigger and the body getting smaller all the way down to the feet. The first time I saw it on a billboard I thought it was creative because it was different, but now it seems like everyone is using it. Ok, enough already. Can we just go back to conventional photos looking straight on at the subject?
3. Whatever the new catch phrase of the month happens to be. Right now I am sick of people being thrown under the bus.
4. Something that isn't exactly new anymore but still annoys me is putting "gate" on the end of anything that might be involved in some sort of a scandal. Maybe it's time to throw that one under the bus.
I have plenty others, and no doubt there will be some new one I notice tomorrow, but I really don't have time to list all of them here.
