New trends you are sick of

There are a few new trends that really get on my nerves. Maybe it's because my picture is in the dictionary next to the definition of "curmudgeon." Anyway, I have a tendency to get miffed by anything that becomes the new trendy thing and I will more often than not rebel against that thing. Here's my latest list.

    1. Replacing S with Z. Maybe I'm just a spelling and grammar freak, but this one really gets me. It's boys, not boyz. The other day I was in the truck stop looking for some breakfast bars and I purposely didn't buy one because the label said Snack Barz.

    2. There is a rather recent trend that I first noticed a couple years ago. Maybe it was being done before, but that's when I noticed it. It's these photos of people from slightly above with the person looking up at the camera. You're looking down from above on the person and because of the way the photo is taken you see the head bigger and the body getting smaller all the way down to the feet. The first time I saw it on a billboard I thought it was creative because it was different, but now it seems like everyone is using it. Ok, enough already. Can we just go back to conventional photos looking straight on at the subject?

    3. Whatever the new catch phrase of the month happens to be. Right now I am sick of people being thrown under the bus.

    4. Something that isn't exactly new anymore but still annoys me is putting "gate" on the end of anything that might be involved in some sort of a scandal. Maybe it's time to throw that one under the bus.

I have plenty others, and no doubt there will be some new one I notice tomorrow, but I really don't have time to list all of them here.

    I'm with you.

For that matter, the entire off season bugs me. There is baseball season and a few months of cold weather waiting for Opening Day.

That one, plus putting "oholic" at the end of anything that might be describing an addiction. Not all scandals are WaterGATE and not all addictive items are alcOHOL.

The same thing with "phobia" or similar terms - it used to mean fear, but now if you dislike something you're a "(fill in the blank) aphobe"

I'm sick of people being famous just for being famous.

My wife had one of the hollywood shows (TMZ or Access Hollywood or the like) on when I came in the room last night and they were showing how a throng of reporters, photogs & cameramen were outside of a drivethru window recording what Britney was getting from the fast food joint.

Seriously folks - get a life.

All those trends are at least 15 years old, some much older.

I'm pretty sure when Robert Ford asassinated Jesse James the gazette headline read "Ford Throws Legend Under the Bus".

I'm on board with that one!

The girls wearing those sunglasses think they're Jackie O or something.
