    Consecutive World Series sweeps

    From Gene Wojciechowski on espn.com:

"This is the 103rd World Series. Only two teams have won successive championships by 4-0 sweeps: the Red Sox (2007, '04) and, before they began to self-destruct, the Yankees (1998-99)."

If i'm not mistaken, didn't the Reds sweep the Yankees in '76 and then sweep the A's in '90? Or am I missing something?

Yep, the Reds actually have a 9 game WS winning streak.

Can't believe an ESPN writer would actually forget to mention the Reds in the same sentence with the mighty Red Sox and Yankees. End sarcasm.

what a let down, is it to much to hope for an actual competitive series next year?

This is why I only watch ESPN live games, not sportscenter or other information. They are pathetic.

I actually emailed him and said I know the baseball world revolves around the Red Sox and Yankees but the Reds did it too. No response from him. Shocking!

Hilarious... I have emailed ESPN as well about their vast bias towards DA YANKS AND DA SOX and got no response. I hate it when they spend 15 minutes talking about those two games on Baseball Tonight and then never get to the Reds highlights... I just stick to the 'net for my info now...
