CINCINNATI -- Two former Reds players have accepted positions as coaches within the organization.
Bill Doran is Cincinnati's new Minor League infield/baserunning coordinator. Tom Browning will be the pitching coach at extended Spring Training and Rookie-level Billings in the Pioneer League.

It's the second time working for the Reds since the end of Doran's playing career. From 1995-2000, the Cincinnati native and resident served in multiple posts, including Minor League field coordinator, director of player development and special assistant to the general manager. In 2001, he was the Major League club's first-base coach and spent the past two seasons as the Royals' bench coach under manager Buddy Bell.

A .266 hitter over 12 big league seasons as a second baseman, Doran played for the Astros (1982-90), Reds (1990-92) and Brewers (1993).

Browning pitched for the Reds from 1984-94 and remains the last homegrown pitcher to win 20 games for the team. On Sept. 16, 1988, vs. the Dodgers, he became the first pitcher in Reds history to throw a perfect game. He won 123 games and posted a 3.92 ERA during his career with Cincinnati.

A Spring Training instructor for the Reds in 2006, Browning had been seeking a permanent coaching position with the organization. Since retiring, he has made his home locally in Northern Kentucky.

This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.

Yeah, and I believe someone (Team Clark?) heavily criticized the Tom Browning hiring and gave what appeared to be some good justifications, imo.

    And smoke.
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.
