Correct me if I'm wrong but the silver slugger is the highest average at the position right?

i believe its just the best offensive year based on opinion.

in fact, im almost sure, cuz i'm pretty sure carlos pena wouldn't have gotten it if it were based on average.

its opinion, I just read it on the Reds website. Its voted on by the coaches I believe, just like the Gold Glove.

Another terrible choice. I wish I could miss a quarter of the season and still win the Silver Slugger.
If you can't build a winning team with that core a fire-sale isn't the solution. Selling the franchise, moving them to Nashville and converting GABP into a used car lot is.

Well, according to the HardBall Times Win Shares computation, they made the right choice. This is the top NL second base hitting win shares:

    2007 Utley C PHI 23.4
    2007 Sanchez F PIT 17.3
    2007 Johnson K ATL 15.3
    2007 Hudson O ARI 14.4
    2007 Kent J LAN 13.4
    2007 Uggla D FLA 12.7
    2007 Phillips B CIN 12.0
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Chase Utley is a monster... Brandon Phillips on the other hand is mostly overrated by Reds fans, especially on offense...
