ESPN announced their #1 college player of all time tonight. And number one was fine. Lew Alcindor was probably the greatest college player. The thing I don't understand is how Pete Maravich dropped to #5? He averaged 44 pts a game throughout college, he's the all time NCAA scoring leader. And he was a wizard with the basketball in his hands. He should be in the top 3 IMO.

Hitters who avoid outs are the funnest.
Just look at the conference he played in. Voila.
For all of you who love March Madness, upsets, and rooting for the underdog, you may want to pay some attention to the English FA Cup. I will try to equate what has happened this year with familiar March cliches. Barnsley (a "#12 seed" from a mid-major) is now in the Final Four and they did it by beating Chelsea and Liverpool (two "#1" seeds). Also, the other two "#1" seeds are out (Arsenal and Manchester United). All that remains in the Final Four are Portsmouth (a "#3 seed), Barnsley ("#12"), Cardiff (another "#12), and the winner of the West Brom (a "#12 seed") and Bristol (a "#14"). That is three double digit seeds. This is completely out of control.
The semi-finals will be played on April 5th. Stay Tuned.
Finally, about the tournament itself, I think this is as wide open a season as I can remember. There are at least 10 teams that can make the final game, let alone the Final Four. Here's hoping that it is not Louisville.
