Maybe he met LeBron and decided he was really cool and wanted to share his number.

I know he wore number 3 at one time with the Rays. Maybe 23 was the only way to get a 3 on his uniform.

Good god! A few days ago I would have scoffed at this idea. But after the Cordero signing, I'm just waiting for something else. For once, it's good to be a Reds fan again! Now let's just hope there IS another shoe that's going to drop.

    That was my guess, too.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I wonder if Billy Hatcher will switch to his old #22, now that it has been vacated by the departure of Eric Milton.

I'd think that Milton's service has destroyed the value of 22 for history.

Apparently Buck Coats and Chris Dickerson will be both wearing #63

It would be nice if Hatcher took it back, and restored it's dignity!

Hopefully, neither will be wearing a Reds number in 2008.

They're retiring the jersey number by hanging it up over the urinals in the clubhouse.

No offense to Foster, who was a good player, but you don't retire uniforms for good players. That honor should be reserved for great players.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I would much rather see Chris Dickerson wear a Reds number in 2008 than Norris Hopper.

As for Buck Coats, I'm with you on that one. He's pretty much the epitome of a waste of a roster spot.

I bet he (Coats) will be designated for assignment when Cordero is added to the roster. Dunn, Griffey, Hamilton, Freel, Hopper, Dickerson, Coats, and one could even go as far as to say Gil (who was listed an outfielder last year) are all in the outfield.
