Milb.com is starting to release its Top 50 Prospect list today with #41-50. Surprisingly they have Johnny Cueto at #47 overall.
I have Cueto at #15 overall on my list, but could see him falling somewhere between 10-25 on mosts lists, but 47 is way too low for me. Yeah, he is short.... but is that really dropping him that far down the list?
Cueto's not tall enough to sell a nice pair of jeans.
I would think of him (and Votto) more in the 20-30 range. 47 does seem a bit low.

47 seems ridculously low. I won't pretend to know all the players that will make the top 50, but I would've thought Cueto would've been a top 25 kind of guy.

Last year they had Tim Lincecum at #26. Lincecum was otherworldly dominant, as opposed to Cueto's merely being really really good, but he's also got two years on him.

Roughly 1/3 of that full list hit the majors to stay last year, much less so in terms of pitchers however.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
Votto comes in at #34 on this year's rankings. IMO he and Cueto should be very close to each other, about ten spots higher than this.

I think Votto at #34 is about right. His defensive rep - deserved or not - probably stops him from getting top 25.

That list is an ABSOLUTE JOKE. Seriously. Adam Miller in the top 10? One scout pretends as if he has never even heard of Jay Bruce with the comment in his write up
How can I honestly take a list serious when one of the people involved in making it says he must have a special bat if....? It comes off like the guy doesn't even know who he is. I think Bruce is the #1 prospect in baseball and would be very surprised if any list didn't have him at #1, but just wow.When told that Bruce would be topping our Top 50 list, one scout said, "Wow, that's got to be one special bat for a corner outfielder to be No. 1." The implication is that since Bruce won't end up playing a premium position and isn't as pure a five-tool player as some other outfielders on this list, he must be able to flat-out rake if the scouting industry considers him to be the best prospect in all baseball.
Adam Miller was #14 last year. This year he pitches 65 innings, allows 68 hits, a .265 BAA and a 4.82 ERA in AAA and moves up 4 spots?!
Cameron Maybin at #3.... simply wow is all I can say.
Andrew McCutchen at #8? I like the kid and all, but no way is he this high.
I agree. I understand that we need scouting to compliment statistical analysis, but it seems that this list was put together with TOTAL DISREGARD to statistical analysis...
