Good yahoo article on winter meeting and possible trades

The Reds are actually mentioned in a few of those.

I'd love to see us do something with the Orioles or A's. O's have outfield needs and we have players to trade there.

I'd trade alot for Blanton and Haren. I'd give up Hamilton, Bailey, Cueto, Bray, and a few others, etc...........we'd have 4 legit starters and be very tough to beat.

Are you counting Belisle as a legitimate starter? I might be willing to give up Cueto or Bailey, but not both. As for Willis, I read that he is off the trading block.

I wouldn't mind vying for Blanton, though we would likely have to give up far too much. Bedard IMO would be too expensive, especially given his injury history.

As much as it would pain me to get rid of our young guys if it meant a WS run it might be worth it.

Willis might be the most overrated pitcher in MLB...

    wasn't he in the bullpen?

Also: Does Willis being a good pitcher in 2003 mean he can't be overrated now?

he may be overrated now, but the point is that he has the potential and has proven it in flashes of his career.

Fair enough, I'll give you that. I just personally don't buy it. But hey, you never know, Jose Lima might get back into form too...

Personally I don't think you can use Willis's 2003 WS in any argument. He pitched only 3.2 inning of relief, no runs scored and striking out 3.
I do think he is overrated, but with that comes availability. The Reds need anyone that would prove too be a better option than Belisle, Shern, Lizzy and Livingston.
Keeping prospects Bruce, Cuerto and Bailey should be the focal point. So one needs to look for pitchers in trade that don't require any of those names. Willis, Prior, Snell, Harden are some names we are left with. However I would give up a Cuerto + for a Bedard or Haren.
