    Redszone Community Prospect Vote: #13

Vote for the player who you think is the Reds #13 prospect (the best prospect who is not yet on the list). We will go with this as far as you guys want to take it.

I will post a new list every 2 days with 10-15 options to vote on.

If you feel like making an argument on why a guy should be voted here, feel free to vote and state why you voted for that player.

If there is someone that is not currently listed as an option to vote on, vote for 'other' then just state who you want to vote for in the thread.

If there is anyone you would like to see as an option on the next poll, just say so and if they garner enough support, they will be placed on the next poll. Guys with the lowest amount of votes will usually be removed for the next few guys who were talked about in the previous thread.

    Prospect 1 - Jay Bruce
    Prospect 2 - Homer Bailey
    Prospect 3 - Johnny Cueto
    Prospect 4 - Joey Votto
    Prospect 5 - Todd Frazier
    Prospect 6 - Drew Stubbs
    Prospect 7 - Matt Maloney
    Prospect 8 - Josh Roenicke
    Prospect 9 - Travis Wood
    Prospect 10 - Devin Mesoraco
    Prospect 11 - Kyle Lotzkar
    Prospect 12 - Danny Dorn

I'm going with Sean Watson again. If he makes it, can Alex Smit go on the next ballot?

Despite the small sample size, I think his ERA is going to scare away some people. Still, I think he's very underrated.

I've waited long enough and can't any longer. My write in candidate is Drew Anderson. 2b in AA last year. He had a great year in Sarasota in 06 and did very well in AA in the second half that year. Last year he started out very strong and went into a protracted slump created partly by a dislocated rib that wasn't diagnosed for a month. His extra base hit numbers are as good or better than a number of the guys on this list, he has speed, switch hits, can play 6 positions and committed 14 errors in 128 games. All he has to do is reduce his strike outs and put the ball in play and he'll be talked about as a prospect.

Re: Redszone Community Prospect Vote: #13

I went with Pedro Viola. At this point, all the guys remaining have warts of some kind. Be it Fransisco's horrible plate discipline, Waston's step back in the FSL of all places, or McBeth's age.

Viola is a bit old, yes. But in his first crack at the US professional leagues, he put up this line:

    82.1 IP, 1.43 ERA, 55 H, 30 BB, 94 SO, 5 HR -- finishing the season in AA.

Oh yeah, he's a lefty. I know virtually nothing about him, but if he starts off hot this year, he's going to find himself on a lot of radars very quickly. That said if the reports on Pelland are true, he might be 2nd in line.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I've been voting Chris Dickerson each time since the poll for #9.

Eventually the group will agree with me.

I like Justin Turner over Drew Anderson. Actually, I might even like Michael Griffin over Drew Anderson.

At some point Tatum has to make the ballot, right?

I agree, Tatum should be on the ballot. He had a good season.

Francisco's age/performance combo at low-A makes him a solid candidate here, even though he needs to improve plate discipline. Great power numbers for 20 year old in A ball.

He hit 25 homers, 90 ribbies, and .268. And that's with all the strikeouts and few walks. Very good production, could be awesome.

Since Dorn FINALLY made the list, and I can vote for somebody else, (I'm plagarizing another poster) I voted for Waring. Might want to add Bartles to your poll though, he was a bit of a surprise gem.
