    Jays offer Rios for Lincecum

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere. Thought it was interesting... especially in trying to gauge Hamilton's market value.

We can only hope Josh Hamilton turns out to be Alex Rios.

Right... but if Rios-Lincecum is on the table, that means that Hamilton+Bailey might also do the job. Right?

The problem with that premise is that you're essentially trading 2 question marks for 1 question mark. Trade your question marks for periods or better yet, exclamation points. Lincecum is still a question mark, albeit a better question mark than Bailey. Throwing in Hamilton is overpaying for Lincecum, IMO.

If you're trading Bailey and Hamilton in the same deal, then you're looking in the Bedard or Haren category of punctuation marks.

I agree with you. I guess my comment was more intended to try to guess what the Giants would expect and not what the Reds should actually do.

If I was the Giants, I'd have done this deal. Yesterday.

Yeah, me too. It seems like Rios is exactly what they need... and he's quite a bounty for an unproven starter. For god sakes, if I were a Giants fan, I would LOVE to have Rios in that lineup. He would go a long way to help with the current boredom factor.

That statement needed a semicolon somewhere.

An ellipsis would have been nice, too...

No, but IMO it's harder to find a stud starter than an .850 OPS 26 year old outfielder. If he doesn't hit .300 he's just not that great of a player. I'd rather have Hamilton. At least his ceiling is higher. Alex Rios isn't ever going to OPS .950.

That's a great plan! Maybe we can interrupt him on his blackberry while he's on the buffet line! I know his cousins stepbrothers paperboy!
