Yep, and I bet Rolen will be too when he hangs them up.

Shortly after La Russa accepted a two-year, $8.5 million extension, Rolen notified general manager John Mozeliak he would relinquish his no-trade leverage if the club would ship him to a contender. The Cardinals approached a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this week but talks stalled, causing Mozeliak to predict Rolen’s return in 2008.
The Brewers? A contender? As much of the rest of the NL Central, I suppose.

I fail to see how LaRussa airing all this to the media helps the situation.

Larussa should shut up. He's certainly not taking the high road himself.

He veered off the high road some time back. Man, am I glad he didn't end up in Cincinnati. Larussa is in a class all by himself.

Was he sober when he did it?

Seriously, the only reason why I think he might do this is because he's trying to make it intolerable for Rolen to stay in StL and doing things like this is a tactic for Rolen to accept any old trade.

Actually, he fell asleep while still on the high road...

I find the part about double standards in the clubhouse interesting. I wonder what Tony's rules are for Prince Albert and some of the others that he annointed are as opposed to those like Rolen?

By the way, Kremchek is a surgeon and that is what they do, surgery. They like to cut, so the stories on this thread don't surprise me.

Seems to me that when management starts questioning players about their commitment in light of injuries, that management is usually the one that comes out looking like idiots.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Didn't Kremchek flip out over something Bowden said about one of Jr's injuries? At the time I thought the remark wasn't off the mark.

Dr. Kremchek is basically Dr. Scrivello, played by Steve Martin, from Little Shop of Horrors.
