Rank Kazmir, Haren, Bedard, and Lincecum in terms of ability.

Setting salary and contract concerns aside for a moment, how would you rank the following pitchers against each other? Why?

    Kazmir
    Haren
    Bedard
    Lincecum

Kazmir and Bedard are the two most valueable because they are left handed, but basing it off of "ability" and only ability, I'd go

    Haren
    Kazmir
    Bedard

Kazmir (Great stuff, youngest arm of the bunch so he could be apart of a core more so than Bedard.)
Haren (Big jump in K/9 last year, and he's a big kid so it wouldn't be shocking if he is just starting to find the sweet spot in his mechanics ala Harang and continue to improve.)
Bedard (Bedard has nasty stuff and is a lefty, but he is older and seemingly Canada bound. Due to being close to 30 and his injury concerns of the past, it's a bit more scary to pay the price the O's want.)

Let's throw Lincecum into the mix for the hell of it. Where do you put him, mhckey?

I like Haren best because he's the only one that is not (to me) an injury concern.

Add in his 3 year reasonable contract, and it's a no brainer.

    They are all good pitchers.

I know he is into quite a regimen to supposedly handle his delivery, but it would make me uneasy nonetheless. Of course I was one of the many here who was hoping Lincecum would be a guy we would take in the draft, but I wouldn't give up the talent the Giants would want for him in case he does end up in the pen due to injuries in the future. I'd put him at the level of Bedard, more of a question mark but more controllability.

And Puffy brings up a good point, the Haren contract is a super nice bonus there. Bedard seems like an extended rental to me just based on the way he talks, but we could convince Haren to possibly stay (or so I hope.) Maybe through an Arroyo serenade of the greatness of Cincy?

    Haren, Bedard, Kazmir and Lincecum.

Haren is just plain the best. I think Bedard will surprise people and last into his 40s. Kazmir is still a a baby. I'm fairly convinced that Lincecum is going to get hit by a bus or something.

Note: I don't think the Reds are getting any of these pitchers.

There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Kazmir, Bedard, Haren, Lincecum in terms of value.

Haren, Kazmir, Bedard, Lincecum in ability.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

How is Bedard a better value than Haren?

Haren is signed cheaply for 3 years. Bedard will be expensive for 2.

Or are you defining "value" as something different?
