2008 Opponents for Bengals and Browns

When you're a Bengals fan like I am, you get used to looking toward next year. So, let's look toward next year, and the opponents the perennially mediocre bunch from down on the river will face. While we're at it, and since there are several Browns fans here, let's see who they play next year, as well...

    Code:
    2008 Cincinnati Bengals Opponents:

    PITTSBURGH (10-6)
    CLEVELAND (10-6)
    BALTIMORE (5-11)
    JACKSONVILLE (11-5)
    TENNESSEE (10-6)
    PHILADELPHIA (8-8)
    WASHINGTON (9-7)
    KANSAS CITY (4-12)

    at Pittsburgh (10-6)
    at Cleveland (10-6)
    at Baltimore (5-11)
    at Houston (8-8)
    at Indianapolis (13-3)
    at Dallas (13-3)
    at New York Giants (10-6)
    at New York Jets (4-12)

    2008 Cleveland Browns Opponents:

    PITTSBURGH (10-6)
    CINCINNATI (7-9)
    BALTIMORE (5-11)
    HOUSTON (8-8)
    INDIANAPOLIS (13-3)
    DALLAS (13-3)
    NEW YORK GIANTS (10-6)
    DENVER (7-9)

    at Pittsburgh (10-6)
    at Cincinnati (7-9)
    at Baltimore (5-11)
    at Jacksonville (11-5)
    at Tennessee (10-6)
    at Philadelphia (8-8)
    at Washington (9-7)
    at Buffalo (7-9)
It doesn't look like there are too many breathers on the schedule for the AFC North teams. Pittsburgh and Baltimore will play 14 of the same opponents as the Bengals and Browns do, with the only exceptions being that the Steelers will face the first place teams from the AFC East (Patriots) and AFC West (Chargers), while the Ravens will face the fourth place teams from those divisions (Raiders and Dolphins).

That Dallas game doesn't sound too good. Come to think of it, that whole schedule doesn't sound good. There are tons of good teams on that list for the Bengals.
If you can't build a winning team with that core a fire-sale isn't the solution. Selling the franchise, moving them to Nashville and converting GABP into a used car lot is.

We play both games early, so at least you won't have to worry about us shutting you out of the playoffs again late next season.

That was my first thought. I can see Romo going for 350 with 4 TD passes - 3 of them to TO. I don't care how good your secondary is, when you can't get pressure on the QB (and the Bengals can't, with no good reason to think they will next year), NFL QBs will light you up.

That Brown's schedule is a killer.

Yeah, how'd that work out for you this year?

We (Bengals and Browns fans) can all enjoy our time-honored tradition of watching other people's teams in the playoffs.

Next year's schedules look brutal for both teams but you never know. Last year the Ravens were 13-3 and the #2 seed in the AFC...this year they're the dregs of the division. I'm sure next year will bring similar reversals in fortune for some of the teams on those schedules. Here's hoping it's Pittsburgh.

    I have low expectations.

All I want is a MNF appearance for my Browns!

I wouldn't be shocked if they had a Sunday night game or two.

Cleveland fans watch TV a lot.

How do you know when the games will be played? Are you Miss Cleo or something?

My hope for the Bengals is that we have none...at least none at home. That just horks up my whole week. Sunday at 1:00, that's the deal.

I sleep in front of mine more.

What pees me off is that I just got Directv. I got the NFL Primetime package free for the remainder of the year. But they black out the Bengal and Brown games on me. Unless of course they aren't for some reason being broadcast locally; but they usually are.

But I want to watch them in Hi def, and my local channels are not in Hi def. Unless I want to go out and buy a separate antenna.

They get ya coming and going.

The schedules look brutal, but with none of the teams in the division having what you could call an easy schedule, we could see a mediocre record win the division.
