Makes me think of a former Ohioan, Billy Milligan. A guy diagnosed with 24 personalities... had a lesbian personality that committed 3 rapes at OSU. He lived in Athens at the North Green (mental hospital) when I attended Ohio University. The book about him is an interesting read.
