    Bud Smith?

Im not suggesting that the Reds pursue him or anything, just ive been looking some recently and it seems he went from his no-hitter verse san diego, traded to philly, let lose as a free agent, signed by minnesota and he just vanished from baseball. i did find he was in some indepedent league but didt say when.

Anybody know anything about this guy? Im truly sorry if this is a dumb question and the answer is an obvious one i should know. but thanks for anything.

Just out of curiousity anyone know why Wade Miller hasnt been mentioned lately or is he still being plagued by injuries. If hes healthy i dont see why teams arent looking into him as his stats didnt seem that bad.

    After the Phillies
After being released by the Phillies, Smith was signed by the Minnesota Twins for the 2005 season. In 3 games for the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, he went 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA. He had shoulder surgery again, and did not pitch again in 2005.

For the 2006 season, Smith is currently pitching for the Long Beach Armada of the independent Golden Baseball League. As of July 22, he has a 1-4 record in 8 starts and a 3.05 ERA. After three shoulder surgeries, and now pitching in what is considered the bottom rung of the independent leagues, Smith is looking at other options if his 82 mph changeup doesn't return to the high-80s. Smith was the pitching coach this spring at St. John Bosco of Bellflower, his alma mater. He also helped Miguel Flores, who became the Padres' 37th-round draft pick.

    I hope that helped ya!

    Just a little snippet!

On January 23, 2006 the Chicago Cubs signed Miller to a one-year, one million dollar contract, with $1 million more in incentives. Miller made his first start of the 2006 season on September 9. Overall, Miller made five starts in 2006, finishing with a record of 0-2 with a 4.57 ERA. He filed for free agency after the season.

On November 9, 2006 Miller signed an incentive-laden, 1.5 million dollar one-year extension to stay with the Chicago Cubs under new manager Lou Piniella. However, after three unsuccessful starts where he compiled a 10+ earned run average, Miller was once again placed on the DL in July of 2007. He was given his unconditional release from the team one month later.

In an eight-year career (through the end of the 2006 season), Miller has compiled a 62-45 record with 743 strikeouts and a 4.00 ERA in 880.2 innings.
